Florida orders iDeal Auto, First Premier Home Warranty to stop business
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announced Oct. 21 that it had ordered iDeal Group Inc., doing business as iDeal Auto, and First Premier Home Warranty Corp. to stop the activity.
First Premier entered into 207 home warranty contracts in Florida from 2023 through 2026 and collected nearly $108,500, according to the regulator's complaint.
The action against iDeal followed a state inquiry into vehicle service agreements sold to Florida consumers, including at least one warranty that remained active while the company was winding down its operations.
The complaints were filed Oct. 7 following two market conduct examinations. iDeal is based in New Jersey, while First Premier is based in New York.
Florida cites licensing violations
The complaint against First Premier alleges that the company acted as the obligor on home warranty contracts without holding the required home warranty association license or a certificate of authority as an insurer.
The complaint says the company entered into home warranty contracts in Florida without the authorization required for that activity.
The action against iDeal followed a notification from the Florida Department of Financial Services in December 2025 concerning motor vehicle service agreements sold to two Florida consumers in 2022.
In May 2026, iDeal told OIR it was no longer conducting business in Florida and had no active service warranties, according to the complaint.
About two weeks later, after regulators brought the two warranties to its attention, the company acknowledged that at least one remained active and said it was winding down its operations.
OIR ordered both companies to cease and desist immediately and said violations could result in administrative penalties.
California previously targeted iDeal
The Florida action follows a 2022 enforcement action by the California Department of Insurance against Ideal Group Inc., doing business as Ideal Auto Protect, and its owners.
California regulators alleged that the company sold vehicle service contracts to 12 consumers totaling more than $22,000 without the required license.
The department also alleged that the company improperly denied claims without demonstrating that the claims were excluded from coverage.
The California orders directed the company and its owners to stop selling vehicle service contracts and cease acting as an insurance agent or producer in the state. The company faced potential penalties of $5,000 per day for failing to comply with the orders.
The California proceeding concerned the company's activity in that state and is separate from Florida's current enforcement action.
